At Valley Bank & Trust, our mission is to meet the needs and expectations of our customers. As financial service professionals entrusted with sensitive financial information, we respect the privacy of our customers and are committed to treating customer information responsibly. We believe that our customers’ privacy should not be compromised. At the same time, we want to offer them the array of financial products and services they need to accomplish their financial goals. Our customer information privacy principles serve as standards for all Valley Bank & Trust employees for collection, use, retention, and security of individual customer information.

We recognize our customers’ rights to privacy at Valley Bank & Trust. We believe the confidentiality and protection of customer information is one of our fundamental responsibilities. Although information is critical to providing quality service, we recognize that one of our most important assets is the trust of our customers; therefore, we will make the safekeeping of customer information a priority at Valley Bank & Trust.

We collect, retain, and use information about our customers only when we reasonably believe that it is necessary to administer our business, provide superior services or offer new products. This means that we will use information to help us identify and mitigate potential risks of loss to the Bank, to comply with certain laws and regulations, and also to help identify additional products or services which we believe will be of interest to our customers. Information about customers is accumulated from a variety of sources. We collect nonpublic personal information about our customers from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from the customer on applications or other forms;

  • Information about their transactions with us, our affiliates, or others; and

  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency.

We will use this information only in accordance with the principles set out in this Policy.

We continually strive to maintain complete and accurate information about our customers and their accounts. Should a customer ever believe that our records contain inaccurate or incomplete information, we ask that they notify us. We will investigate their concerns and correct any inaccuracies.

Each Valley Bank & Trust employee is required to follow our Bank’s ‘Code of Ethics”, which states that all customer information is considered private and privileged and is to be used solely for the purpose of providing our customers with the finest service available. We strive to limit customer information to those employees with a business reason to know such information. Employees are educated on the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of customer information and on these Privacy Principles.

Valley Bank & Trust is committed to the security of financial and personal information regarding each of our customers. All operational and data processing systems are in a secured environment that protects account information from being accessed by third parties. We maintain and grant access to customer information only in accordance with our internal security standards. We continually assess new technology for protecting information. Our employees are trained to understand and comply with these information principles.

We do not reveal specific information about a customer’s account or other personally identifiable data to outside parties or companies for their independent use unless:

  1. the customer requests or authorizes it

  2. the information is provided to help complete a transaction initiated by the customer

  3. the information is provided to a reputable credit bureau or similar information reporting agency

  4. the disclosure otherwise is lawfully permitted or required.

We do not provide account or personal information to outside companies for the purpose of independent telemarketing or direct mail marketing of any non-financial products or services of those companies.

When our Bank conducts business with third parties, we will insist that our vendors and suppliers maintain similar standards of conduct regarding the privacy of personally identifiable customer information provided to them.

At Valley Bank & Trust, we value our customer relationships. We want our customers to understand how we use the information they provide and our commitment to ensuring their personal privacy. We do not disclose any non-public personal information about our customers or former customers to anyone, except as permitted by law.


Visitors to the Valley Bank & Trust website remain anonymous. We do not collect identifying information about visitors to our site. We may use standard software to collect non-identifying information about our visitors, such as:

  • Date and time our site was accessed

  • IP Address (A numeric address given to servers connected to the Internet)

  • Web browser used

  • City, State, and Country

Valley Bank & Trust uses this information to create summary statistics and to determine the level of interest in information available on our site.

Visitors may elect to provide us with personal information via e-mail or our feedback form. This information is used internally, as appropriate, to handle the sender’s request. It is not disseminated or sold to other organizations. Visitors should, however, keep in mind that e-mail is not necessarily secure against interception. Therefore, we strongly discourage you from including any confidential information in your email. Specifically, we discourage you from including your social security number, your account numbers, or other personal information.

Valley Bank & Trust will NEVER ask for your Personal Identification Number (PIN) for your Valley Bank & Trust debit card. If you are asked for this information, please call (712) 225-6117 and report it to a customer service representative immediately.

The Bank does not knowingly solicit data from children, and we do not knowingly conduct on-line marketing to children. We recognize that protecting children’s identities and privacy on-line is important and that the responsibility to do so rests with both the on-line industry and with parents.
